WHAT IS GIRLS’ BRIGADE?

Girls’ Brigade is a uniformed organisation for girls from Prep up to university age. It is always associated with a Christian church as it helps girls to grow spiritually, physically, emotionally and socially. Girls work with others of similar age with trained leaders who provide quality programs suited to that age group.

WHAT KINDS OF ACTIVITIES ARE THERE TO DO?

  • Craft
  • Sports
  • Games
  • Bible study
  • Cooking
  • Camping
  • Singing

WHO CAN JOIN?

Any girl of school age or older who enjoys the company of others in a Christian environment. You do not have to belong to a particular church to be involved.

WHERE DO THE COMPANIES MEET?

There are several in our local area. The Company at St John’s Lutheran Church in Levington Road, Eight Mile Plains meets almost every Tuesday night of the school term from 6:30pm. Girls in Prep to Year 2 finish at 8:00pm, while the older girls continue till 8:30pm

For information regarding other Companies, phone Girls’ Brigade Headquarters on 3849 4129 or email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

WHAT ABOUT THE UNIFORM?

Girls are allowed to "try out" Brigade for six weeks before they are expected to be in uniform. These may be purchased new through Brigade State Office at Mansfield, although some second hand ones may be available at Company level.  The cost varies according to size, but $50 - $60 is common for new ones.

HOW MUCH DOES GIRLS' BRIGADE COST?

This varies from Company to Company depending on the types of activities they run. 79th Brisbane (that meets at St John’s) charges $30 per girl per term.
