This skit would work best immediately following the reading of the Bible passage.
Clown 1 enters with magnifying glass, searching for something. Goes to the lectern and discovers the Bible. Reads from the Bible—presumably today’s verse.
Clown 1 acts as if a light bulb has suddenly gone on, at the same time discovering a balloon in the Bible. Clown 1 blows up the balloon, which is a heart, shows it to the congregation, then turns towards the cross at the front of the church and mimes ‘thankyou’ to God.
As Clown 1 goes to exit happily, Clown 2 enters tripping and stumbling because his/her shoelace is undone. Clown 2 falls down at Clown 1’s feet and ends up in a crying mess.
Clown 1 points out the untied shoelace, Clown 2 mimes that he/she doesn’t know how to do it up.
Clown 1 comes to the rescue, does up the shoelace, and because Clown 1 needs two hands to do the job, Clown 1 hands the balloon to Clown 2 to hold. Clown 1 wipes the tears from Clown 2’s face and merrily skips off and leaves Clown 2 smiling happily at the balloon.
Clown 3 enters and is rather angry. Clown 3 is trying to play a toy trumpet but no noise is to be heard because Clown 3 is blowing it in the wrong end. In disgust, Clown 3 throws it on the ground, stamps foot and has a little temper tantrum.
Clown 2 picks up the trumpet, dusts it off, and as Clown 2 needs two hands to do the job, he/she passes the balloon to Clown 3.
Clown 2 then shows Clown 3 the correct end to blow in and can even play a tune if he/she is a musical clown.
Clown 2 hands the trumpet to Clown 3, waves, and also happily leaves.
Clown 3 is happy to have a balloon and is thrilled that he/she can now make noise with the trumpet.
Clown 3 moves off through the congregation playing the trumpet. On the way out, Clown 3 finds a little person or someone who could do with a little love, and gives them the balloon before tooting an exit.
