He rode around with Silas and they both had a ball.

Kept preaching 'bout Jesus so they put him in jail.

First they whipped him real bad, but his faith didn't fail.

SHERIFF:

(Pushing Paul and Silas into prison) Now git in there. I'm sheriff of this here town and I hates Christians. I jest can't abide 'em. I'm tellin' you two low-down, rotten varmits that yer gonna rot in this here jail. (Exits)

SILAS:

Paul, I don't feel so good. I aches all over from that there whipping they gave us. We're goners fer sure.

PAUL:

No sirree, we're not goners yet. I done tole ya, Silas, we got Big Jesus as our partner an he ain't never let us down.

SILAS:

Them's mighty fine words there, Paul, but they ain't gonna git us outta this here jail. Yep, we're goners fer sure.

PAUL:

Well, you can lay there a weepin' and a wailin' and a moanin' and a groanin', but I's aimin' to have me a good ole Christian singalong.

SILAS:

What, now? Here in this here jail?

PAUL:

Yes sirree.

SILAS:

But ya ain't got yer ole guitar!

PAUL:

I don't need no guitar ta praise the Lord. How's about joinin' me?

NARRATOR: (Sings)       I'll tell you a story 'bout a man named Paul.

Even stuck in prison he sure had himself a ball.

Kept a prayin' and a singin' in that dark ole jail.

He coulda given up, but no, his faith didn't fail.

So Paul and Silas kept right on singing and praying till it was        nearly midnght.

The other prisoners got a free concert.

Then all of a sudden that jail started to shake. (Puppet stage        starts to shake)

SILAS:

What in tarnation's happenin', Paul?

PAUL:

I think this here jail's been hit by an earthquake.

SILAS:

Oh no! It's gittin' worse. (Stage shakes more violently) We're goners fer sure now.

PAUL:

No sirree, we're not goners yet. I done tole ya already we got Big Jesus as our partner, an he ain't never let us down.

SILAS:

(Shaking stops) Well, I'll be hog-tied and eaten by a rattlesnake. The earthquake's stopped!

PAUL:

I done tole ya, Silas.

SILAS:

Look, them there prison doors are all open.

SHERIFF:

(Enters) I'm a gonna have ta shoot meself. Them varmits have all escaped fer sure.

PAUL:

No sirree, Mr Sheriff, we're all still in this here cell.

SHERIFF:
