Bible reference: Psalm 23
THE LORD IS MY SHEPHERD
Characters: One male, group of young children, one monster.
Props: Staff/stick, party table; food, drinks, party hats.
When using mime, be sure to make all movements and gestures LARGE and clear, as movement is the chief method of conveying the meaning. Remember that you are creating visual pictures, so make groupings interesting to look at, by varying levels and keeping the group together as one cohesive unit.
The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not
|
Adult male enters with a group of young children,
|
be in want.
|
holding their hands, carrying them, playing with them. He should portray a father/friend.
|
He makes me lie down in green pastures,
|
Beckons children to sit with him.
|
he leads me beside quiet waters,
|
Points out something of interest to children.
|
he restores my soul.
|
Laughs with children, hugs them.
|
He guides me in paths of righteousness
|
Stands, and gathers group together.
|
for his name’s sake.
|
Begins to leave.
|
Even though I walk through the valley of the
|
Monster/masked person jumps out and
|
shadow of death,
|
frightens children.
|
I will fear no evil; for you are with me;
|
Adult shoos ‘monster’ away with staff. Monster cowers in a corner, defeated
|
your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
|
Comforts children using a staff/stick.
|
Hurt child is lifted to feet with staff.
You prepare a table before me in the
|
Leads group to a party table
|
presence of my enemies.
You anoint my head with oil; my cup
|
Puts party hats on children, or passes them around.
|
overflows.
|
Drinks are poured.
|
Surely goodness and love will follow me
|
A toast is made. All drink
|
all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for
ever.
|
Group freezes, as if posing for a photo.
|
